Read moreThere's plenty of fun projects and delicious recipes to make the most of your dehydrated mushrooms! Cooking with dried mushrooms is an easy way to incorporate the nutritional and culinary benefits of mushrooms year-round.
For a large pot of tea (2 quarts) use approximately 1/4 of an ounce. If you're using our 1 ounce package, that means you'll need about 1/4 of the Reishi in the bag. If you're using the 4 ounce package and you don't have a kitchen scale, a nice handful will do - this doesn't need to be exact.
1. Break the Reishi antlers into small pieces (about 1/2 to 1 inch) and add to fresh filtered water in a stainless steel or heat-proof glass pot.
2. Turn heat to high until the water begins to boil, then turn down to low and allow to simmer covered for 30 minutes to 1 hour. The longer you simmer, the stronger the tea will be.
3. Strain the tea and allow to cool slightly before consuming.
To try something a little different, add slices of fresh ginger root to the simmering mushrooms and sweeten with raw honey; or simmer with chai spices for a warming winter brew.

To reconstitute dehydrated Shiitake, simply soak the mushrooms in hot water or broth for 15-30 minutes, then remove from the liquid and use as you would fresh mushrooms. The leftover soaking liquid can be used as a flavorful addition to soups & sauces.
Dried mushrooms can also be crushed up by hand or chopped and added straight into a simmering liquid or soup 15 minutes before serving.
